# Calculate the weight of concrete: M10, M15, M20, and M25

Without concrete no any house is possible. Whether it is RCC column, RCC beams, or RCC slab concrete is needed for all of these. So you have to know how to calculate weight of concrete. Because It helps you to calculate structure load. We can say concrete is a very-very necessary building material for all structures.

As you know that concrete is a mixture of sand, cement, aggregate, steel, and water. When it became hard then it can bear many tons of load. To get a perfect type of concrete you just need to use some of the best building materials for casting concrete.

We also use concrete for making floors. In any type of construction like tunnel making, in construction industries, bridges, dams, and many more things concrete is used. I want to tell you that there are so many types of concrete found. Such as M7.5, M10, M15, M20, And M25 concrete. I am here to tell you what will be the Weight of 1 cubic meter of M7.5, M10, M 15, M 20, And M 25 concrete.

## What is concrete?

As you know this is the essential building material. It is a mixture of sand, cement, aggregate, and water. If you mix water in cement then after hydration it becomes hard and strong, Which we say concrete.

What is the density or unit weight of concrete?

Generally, the weight of normal concrete can be 2400 kg/m3 (150 lb/ft3). and Lightweight concrete weight can be 1750 kg/m3 (110 lb/ ft3).

The above I have told you about the standard weight of concrete. Do you know concrete weight is decided by its density? The weight of a specific concrete mix can be 150 lbs per cubic foot, and per cubic yard, it can be 4050 lbs or 2400 kg in per cubic meter.

How can we find the weight of concrete?

First of all, I will tell you that in a different unit of measurement what will be the density of concrete?

Now the formula for determining the weight of concrete.

M = V × D. (Where M stands for mass, V is stand for volume and D stands for density.)

For example –

What will be the weight of 30 cubic ft of concrete?

As you know the weight of 1 cubic foot of concrete is = 150 lb
So, as per the formula, Weight = volume × density
= 30 × 150 = 4500 lbs

What will be the weight of 4.2 cubic yards of concrete?

Weight = volume × density
= 4.2 × 4050 = 17,010 lbs.

### How to calculate the weight of 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete?

Before finding the weight, we should know the dry and wet volume of concrete. So, the dry volume of concrete is 1.52 to 1.54 times more than the wet volume of concrete. 1 cubic meter is given as wet volume.

By Formula, Dry volume = wet volume × 1.54

So, 1 cubic meter dry volume = 1 × 1.54 = 1.54

Because we are going to find the weight of 1cum M10 grade mix of concrete therefore first of all we will have to know what is the mix ratio used for the M10 grade concrete mix.

1:3:6 is the mix ratio of the M10 grade concrete. 1 shows the part of cement, 3 shows the part of sand and 6 shows the part of the aggregate.

So the total mix ratio is = 1 + 3 + 6 = 10. When we get this then we can find that the part of cement is = 1/10, part of sand = 3/10, and part of aggregate = 6/10 in the mix.

#### Calculate the weight of cement for 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete

As you know, if we want to find the weight of 1m3 of concrete then first we have to find the quantity of the materials which are used to make concrete. So in the beginning we will find what will be the weight of cement for 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete.

Here I also want to tell you that one bag of cement is around 50 kg. With this, it has a fixed density which is 1440 kg/m3.

Now the volume of cement = cement mix ratio × 1.54.
= 1/10 × 1.54 = 0.154 m3

Now the volume of cement in kilograms (kg)

In this case to change the volume of cement in kg we have to multiply the volume of cement by the density of cement.

0.154 × 1440 = 221.76 or 222 kg we can write.

As you know that the weight of 1 cement bag is 50 kg so how many bags will be in 222 kg of cement?

After dividing, 222 ÷ 50 = 4.44 bags we get.

#### Calculate the weight of sand for 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete

Now, you can understand that in 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete, there will be a need for 4.44 bags of cement. As we have got the information about cement now we are going to find that what will be the weight of sand for 1 cubic meter of concrete.

Quantity of sand = sand mix ratio × dry volume
= 3/10×1.54 = 0.462 m3.

As you know that the volume of 1m3 sand is around 1600 to 1700 kg. We assume it is 1600 kg.

Now, 1600 × 0.462 = 739 kg or 26 CFT.

Therefore we need 739 kg of sand for 1 cubic meter of concrete.

#### Calculate the weight of gravel for 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete

As we have got the quantity of cement and sand now we are going to find what will be the weight of aggregate for 1 cubic meter of concrete.

Quantity of aggregate =  aggregate mix ratio × dry volume

#### Calculate the water quantity for 1 cubic meter of M10 concrete

It is considered that 0.50 to 0.60 l of water should be poured for 1 cubic meter of m10 grade concrete mix. Do you know it should be 50 to 60 % of the cement?

As, if we have got 222kg of cement is needed for 1 cum of concrete. With I want to tell you that for 1 bag of cement, about 25 liters of water is needed. So to know the water quantity we should use this formula.

1 bag of cement is 50 kg so 50 × 0.50 = 25

Therefore we have 222kg of cement so

222 × 0.5 = 111 liters of water we need.

Now the total weight of,

Cement = 222 kg

Sand = 739 kg

Aggregates = 1478 kg

And water = 111 kg/L

After adding all of these we will get the net weight of M10-grade concrete.

1478 + 793 + 222 + 111 = 2604 kg

### Calculate the Weight of 1 cubic meter of M15 concrete.
